Hayleigh Gordon
Clinical Mental Health Counselor – Intern
As a counselor, my primary goal is to equip individuals with the tools needed to achieve a healthier, happier well-being mentally, emotionally, and physically. I believe in a person-centered, integrative approach to therapy, recognizing that no single modality works for everyone. Instead, I tailor my approach to each client’s unique needs, incorporating a variety of therapeutic techniques based on their goals. With certification in Positive Psychology, I emphasize the importance of building supportive relationships, finding meaning and purpose, engaging in flow states, and using personal strengths to enhance life satisfaction.
I earned both my Associate’s (Salt Lake Community College) and Bachelor’s (University of Utah) degrees in psychology and am currently pursuing my Master’s (Arizona State University) degree with plans to become a licensed ACMHC by 2025. My training also includes certification in crisis counseling and crisis intervention. Some of the courses that have significantly shaped my approach include “Growing Through Traumatic Life Experiences”, “Change Using Positive Psychology”, and “Enhancing Happiness and Life”, among others. These courses deepened my understanding of the impact our experiences have on our emotional and mental health, reinforcing my commitment to supporting clients through all stages of personal growth.
My passion for counseling began as a teenager, when I started noticing the influence of family dynamics on individuals’ perceptions of themselves and their world. This curiosity led me to pursue a deeper understanding of how environment shapes our identity and potential. I aim to guide others in realizing the full potential and achieving the personal goals. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy time with my husband and 3 daughters, exploring the outdoors through hiking, fishing, and camping. I also enjoy discovering new places in Utah, reading, and embroidery. Committed to lifelong learning, I remain curious and open-minded, always searching for new coping strategies and therapy models/techniques to better help my clients reach their goals.
